Lilypie 1st Birthday Ticker

Sarah Janette Lance Is Here!!!

Sarah was born on February 3, 2009 at 7:57 a.m. via cesarian section. She weighed in at 6 pounds, 3 ounces and was 20.5 inches long. After 12 long hours of labor, there was no progression past 4 cm. so the doctors decided it was in her and my best interest to bring her into this world via c-section. She is an absolute angel and perfect in every way.

On this page, you can view Sarah's journey before she entered the world. Please feel free to visit our photo gallery page as we will update it periodically with new pictures as she grows, or stop by our blog and hear what Sarah is up to!

6 WEEK ULTRASOUND

6/26/08 - 6 week ultrasound, heartrate of 122 bpm. All we could see was the little flutter of the heartbeat because the baby is so tiny at this point, but it was still amazing to see!

12 WEEK ULTRASOUND

7/29/08 - 12 week ultrasound, heartrate was in the high 160's. Baby was very active, almost looked like it was doing summersaults and flipping around.

 OB APPT.

9/5/08 - Regular OB appt. Heartrate was 147bpm.  Anatomy scan is schedule for September 25th. At that point the baby will be around 20 weeks and we will be about 1/2 the way through pregnancy.

20 WEEK ULTRASOUND
IT'S A GIRL!!!!

9/25/08-  20 week ultrasound, heartrate was 144 bpm. Baby was very active. We were able to see fingers, toes, parts of the brain and chambers of the heart, legs, arms, and many other things! We were also able to find out that our little peanut is in fact a little GIRL!!

HALLOWEEN

10/31/08 - Yes, there is a baby in there! A woman at work decided that had to complete my orange shirt (which she said looked like a pumpkin) to actually look like a pumpkin. So, I was a good sport and at 25 weeks in-utero, our little girl was a pumpkin for Halloween!

OB APPT.

11/20/08 - PASSED THE GLUCOSE TEST! Thank goodness because the stuff they make you drink is quite disgusting to say the least! Today her heartbeat was 145 bpm and everything seemed to be right on schedule measurements wise. We have now graduated to appointments every two weeks instead of every four! Only 12 more weeks to go!

3D/4D ULTRASOUND

11/28/08- Okay, so, we had our 4d u/s and it SUCKED!!! I posted the pictures under photo gallery/ultrasound pictures. On some of the pictures you will see what looks like a  black whole on the baby's head, but that is just where she was pushing through with the u/s instrumnent. This baby girl of ours did NOT cooperate. We tried everything; turning on my right side, left side, empyting my bladder, and poking at her. She just did not want to move. The u/s tech said that she looked very comfortable, and that she had her head buried in the side of my uterine wall. So, they felt so bad that we had driven over an hour to have it done that they refunded our money, which was very nice of them. Then, we left the office, went out to lunch, and as soon as we sat down to eat the little stinker decided it was play time! She was kicking like crazy.. Figures it works out like that! In this picture you can kind of make out her face a bit, nose but that its. Guess we will have to wait another 11 weeks to see her in person!

OB APPT.'s

12/4/08 - Just a regular appt with nothing much new to report. Her heartrate was at 145 steady....and everything seems to be on target. The OB said nothing really exciting happens until our Week 26 appt, which I am thinking, maybe, just maybe, they will give us an ultrasound then to see how big the baby is! Lets hope!

12/18/08 - Well, what I thought would be a routine visit turned into more!  First the doc tells me I am measuring a FEW weeks ahead...lovely! Then she starts asking questions, which I tell her my ankles have been getting swollen and that I have felt her quick drastically less than usual in the last week, which she said she doesnt like to hear. So, they hooked me up to the NST machine...for about 20 minutes. Well, apparently they didnt like what they saw so they sent me up for another one immediately at the hospital (better equip I guess), so that one turned out a little better, but not a ton. So, I have to go for another one Monday morning and a possible ultrasound to see how big she is and how much fluid is in there.

12/30/08 -  Officially on maternity leave, pulled from work. Currently 1+ centimeters and 80% effaced. They had to give me a shot to stop contractions and 2 to help develop her lungs quicker incase she makes her grand entrance sooner than later. They just want me to keep her in there for 2 more weeks and then she should be okay if I go into labor after that point! Its almost here!

1/22/09 - Looks like there's a possibility of being induced next week with all the problems we have been having along the way, high blood pressure and such. Looks like she may be coming a little early...should know next week!
